Hearn is also known as Yakumo Koizumi, adopted Japanese name. He was a star reporter for the Cincinnati Enquirer. In 1889, he went to Japan on assignment for Harper's Monthly. Hearn is best known for his collection of Japanese folklore and ghost stories. He became a Japanese citizen, died in 1904.
