Where Hollywood HidesSanta BarbaraVery Classy. The dessert after a fine meal I search and search for these kinds of booksThis one is heads above some of the othersI enjoyed the text and learned thing about Santa Barbara I didn't know.Flying A Pictures made over a thousand film there, I always thought Flying A was Gene Autry's Movie Co. They were separate. I enjoyed the choice of people who hide in Santa Barbara and their photos. I've showed a couple of collector friends the book.they bought it too. Christmas /Holidays are coming up. When I make out my list I bet I order more. The authors might think of doing a Hiding Book on Palm Springs. If so put me down for one. Thanks. What fun! Great read. Full of fun facts and celebrity surprises. If you've ever been to Santa Barbara, you need this book. If you've never been, this book will have you quickly making travel plans. Homage to. California paradise!. Hollywood Heart and Soul Bruce J. Sallan Bob has BEEN THERE and DONE IT as the proverbial saying goes. He led The Life for a while and that's when we crossed paths. But, he alway retained his sense of humor and his loyalty to family. So, this book is truthful, heartfelt, well-researched, and without any question - well-written. Most of all, it's fun and a page-turner!
What better place to escape from the hectic world of power lunches, business dinners, and the obligatory weekend party circuit? And so--in the midstream of busy film and television careers--we found ourselves living in Santa Barbara, raising a family, and working just as efficiently as ever on all of our studio projects. In the early 1980s, however, every agent, producer, and studio executive told us that moving to Santa Barbara would put us "out of the business." But as technology gained a foothold in the Hollywood production community with fax machines, phone modems (remember those?), email and the internet, we found ourselves entertaining showbiz friends on their weekend visit
Since those early days, the area has continued to attract a wide range of celebrities seeking respite from the demands of Tinseltown, a mere 90 miles away. The quiet streets and uncrowded beaches of Montecito, Carpinteria, Hope Ranch, and Summerland have always attracted internationally famous movie, television, and music superstars, who give Santa Barbara a connection to Hollywood like no other place in the world. There's no business like show business! In 1912, long before Hollywood had a foothold in the world of movies, Flying A Studios opened its doors in downtown Santa Barbara. A decade later Hollywood had become the new center of international film production, but Santa Barbara never lost its celebrity allure. The movie business evolved quickly. This book celebrates the Santa Barbara-Hollywood relationship, paying homage to some of the show business personalities from Charlie Chaplin (builder of the landmark Montecito Inn) to Jeff Bridges to Oprah Winfrey, who continue to make our town the place "where Hollywood hides". As one of the earliest studios on the West Coast, Flying A Studios produced more than 1,000 films, which put Santa Barbara on the map as a prominent center for movie magic
