DESCRIPTION:
"These "Thoughts" could have used alot of work" according to rmcrae. When I hear the name TLC, Tionne "T Boz" Watkin's deep, raspy voice seductively working a groove come to mind. She's led the group through hits like Waterfalls, Creep, Diggin' On You, and Red Light Special. While her vocals are distinctive and captivating, I can't say the same about her poems. She set out with really good intentions, covering topics like racism, weight, sex, and child abuse, but they fall flat. VERY flat. Take "Hatred" for example. "Hate is evil, Hate is not good." I kind of got what you mean. THE best book-a must buy! Before this book came out, I was THE hugest TLC fan! My favorite being Tionne. She is such an inspiration to me, not only because she battles a life-threatening disease on a daily basis, not only because even after nearly 10 years in the music business, her, Lisa, & Rozonda are still on the top of the charts, but because through it all(albums, movies, etc.), she still remains true to herself, and stays who she is. THOUGHTS really gave me a deeper look into Tionne's soul, and it made me an even bigger fan of T. Robert Crookall said A wonderful book. This is not the kind of book I often read, but I became interested in it through my love of TLC's music.I found so much in this book that is good and truthful. Tionne shares many of her life's most emotional experiences. A lot of this is delightful to read - like the chapters about her brother, her mother, and her grandmother, for whom she shows unconditional love. She also talks about her love for God throughout the book, and tries to give advice to her readers on how to live a happy and virtuous life - by r
Up until then, I hadn't realized how badly I needed to release what I was feeling inside. On my own, though, I can let you into my heart and mind.Thank you for allowing me to share my Thoughts with you.Love, Tionne. "Unpretty" was the first. Stories about the important people in my life, like my mom who's always been there for me, my family, my TLC partners Lisa and Rozonda, and those who have all helped me along the way. Or maybe they'll give you a better understanding of who I am as a person. They were my thoughts from the heart, and my art.The poems cover a whole range of topics: Love, relationships, heartbreak, body image, family
Her message is one of self-reliance, born out in plainspoken rhyme and culminating in a musical number entitled "Tionne's Song." This makes for an appealing program that speaks directly to fans. Watkins produced and recorded this tape on her own and handed it in as finished product. That air of assurance and artistic autonomy comes across strong in the poems and accompanying music. The Iowa-born singer addresses issues that affect many teens: racism, health, weight, workingAall components of self-image. . (Nov.) Copyright 1999 Reed Business Information, Inc.
