This was the first of Mr. Marrins' books that we have read, and I have to tell you that this is an outstanding study of WWI.It was difficult to find anything about WWI for elementary and jr high aged students, much less that wasn't the typical BORING, DRY, DULL text-book type material that puts students in classrooms to sleep. His voice is not dry or overly detailed like a textbook; rather he tells true stories in an interesting way, and makes you want to keep reading. I was very unfamiliar with World War I when I read The Yanks Are Coming, and it proved to be the perfect way to begin my studies. Albert Marrin covered a lot of information in a relatively quick read. I highly recommend!
