I Forgot I Only Exist When You Need Something Jami Leigh When I saw that Dark Horse was publishing this graphic novel, I got real excited. I pre-ordered it from Amazon.com because I knew it was one I had to own. It does not disappoint! I love that issue #3 summed up in 4 pages the premise of a book I read that was 100 pages recently. #5 and #22 were fantastic, probably my favorites. The design, layout, flow, graphics, everything make this novel feel so complete and alive. Each issue tells a distinct story and either makes you laugh out loud, say ewe, or gives you a ménage of reactions. If you are a fan of dark romance, go get this graphic novel.. But not as much as paying $10 for this book Dellamorte I thought I might like this based on the 3 page sample I downloaded, which is an extremely short one joke story. Problem is, this is just a big collection of 2-3 page 'stories' that have no setup, no nothing - just getting a joke or a 'twist' out in about 15-20 panels. Only a couple of them were even good, but the longer sci-fi ones were just lame. It was like paying $10 to read someone's web based comic strip.

While the initial two-page shorts lack much subtlety or technical skill, as the collection progresses, Anderson's development as both an artist and writer is evident. Anderson saves the best for last: in #31 he expands the length and scope of his stories to include psychological horror and classic space fantasy. Comparing
