Invaluable reference book on AIP Mike What I like about this book is it's invaluable source of movies released by this company. It released mostly low budget but over-hyped movies especially the sci-fi and monster movies of the fifties but it did produce a lot of good movies with very little money.Think of all the Edgar Alan Poe movies with, what made, Vincent Price the Master of Horror.Films like "Pit and the Pendulum",House of Usher","The Raven" and "The Comedy of Terrors".It also produced all those beach party movies of the 60"s with Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello. The blaxploitation movies of the 70's which now seem quite good. One in particular was "Bla. James C Girasa said Good companion piece. This book is a good companion piece to the same author's 'American International Pictures The Golden Years' The author, Gary Allen Smith, gives his opinions on each of the movies released by AIP. It has separate chapters on movies that were shown in the theatre and those that were just released for television. In addition there are 5 informative indexes.I can't help but feeling that this should have been combined with the fore mentioned 'Golden Years' book. 'The Golden Years' has mostly press clippings and newspaper and trade magazine articles without much input from the author.
