DESCRIPTION:
Culture Shock Mrs. V Although I was aware of the vile ways that women are treated in India, I learned much more as I read Nila's story in "Scorched". It is an intriguing story that weaves its way across cultural boundaries from the United States to India. It's not only a story of faith, but a history lesson too. Trust me when I say, you won't want to put it down until you've reached the end!. A Hot Read I picked this book up because the cover caught my eye and because the summary on the back cover caught my attention.Nila and Malcolm couldn't be more different if they tried. Nila is a product of a culture that doesn't value her gender and that does its best to "keep her in her place" so to speak. Despite the culturally imposed limitations she faces, Nila still aspires to be more than she's told she can be. She went to college in the United States, but had to return home before graduation to marry the man her father chose for her. Now widowed under tragic. "GREAT BOOK!!!" according to Chell. I read this book withing a week. After I finished a chapter I was anxious about what would happen next so I kept on reading. It was very inspiration as well. Great storyline! Im looking forward to more literature by the author!
Being a widow and single mother is hard enough, but being accused of her husband's murder has made life almost unbearable. Nothing has been easy for Nila since the fire that claimed her husband's life. When the heat is turned up, will Malcolm and Nila be able to overcome their conflicting cultures and ambitions to finally find real love, the kind that only comes from God?. Nila's mother-in-law is still determined to have her incarcerated for murder, and Malcolm and Nila soon find themselves drawn into a battle of good versus evil. Nila must re-evaluate her relationship with Malcolm, and her newly found faith is tested. His conflicted feelings make him the perfect target for the rich American runway model who attempts to steal his heart. Unable to complete her education in the U.S., Nila returns to India, where she resorts to dancing in a bar. Malcolm feels torn about jeopardizing his future and his fortune because of Nila's problems. When she runs into Malcolm, a handsome, womanizing, and ambitious acquaintance from her
