"Great Book for Singing" according to Knittingloie. I love this book! I had one many years ago and lost it. Recently, I've been playing piano, mostly by ear and was missing my old book. I was very happy to be able to buy it here. My only complaint is it took much longer (weeks) than most Amazon items do to get to me. I also have the sequel book called Rise Again and I like that too. The spiral binding makes it very easy to read at a piano or keyboard and the relatively small size makes it convenient for taking to a group sing of any type It's just a book of lyrics but also has. My copy is falling apart from overuse I browsed over to this section just becasue I need to replace my copy of Rise Up Singing. After several years of heavy use, mine is falling apart. I disagree with a previous writer, in that I think this book has a wide range of music, ranging from very old songs such as 'The Cutty Wren' and 'The Coventry Carol' to 1910s ('In the Good Old Summertime'), 1930s (Woody Guthrie), Motown, protest songs, and modern folk classics (several songs each from Stan Rogers, Bill Staines, James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, and on, and on). Rise Up . R. Jackson said A book you'll actually use. I like to cook and have found that a good cook book is filled with recipes you would cook anytime, even a new one for first time guests. Other books might have one or two good recipes but overall, they just doesn't spend a lot of time off the shelf and in the kitchen. This music book is like a good cook book in a way - filled with songs that you will spend hours singing, jamming with friends who will know songs you don't and playing for your kids, yourself and others.
