DESCRIPTION:
This handbook provides all nursing professionals in any clinical setting with an accurate, up-to-date, and easily accessible guide to the most commonly prescribed drugs over 1,500 in this edition. Clear, straightforward nursing considerations provide guidance on proper patient assessment and monitoring as well as patient counseling and drug administration.. Nurses are in the forefront when it comes to safe medication use and counseling patients. Based on the FDA-approved labeling, PDR’s staff of pharmacists have developed concise monographs that highlight the most important information on each drug, including its approved use, dosages, interactions with other drugs, food and alcohol, side effects, safety information, and more
Meh IVETTE I liked it, but it was a bit too detailed. I don't have to read an entire 8-sentenced paragraph to find out that I must assess 2-3 things. I wanted something straight to the point. But, it is still nice to have because it makes you critically thinking about what the drugs are doing.. Great reference! Matthew Lavoie I am a PA and find this book is the most comprehensive I have every used. It has everything including mechanism of action, pharmacokinetics, and the usual drug reference stuff. I will be getting the new addition when it becomes available.. Useful if you have some background in science The is a good reference for someone with some background in chemistry, biology or medical sciences. Much clearer than the regular physician PDR, though not as complete. Probably not too useful for the general layman.
