Debbie Glass said Love it!!!. This amazing book takes me back to my childhood. I love it immensely. A fun way to learn Canadian history. Reminds me of Nancy Drew.. K.E. Fuhrmann said A return to days of innocence. This is a book rich in the detail of youth, innocence, fun and the love of family. An adventurous girl and her younger brother find a suitcase, and decide to use a part of their summer vacation on the farm in Canada where they live to find out where it came from. The mystery itself is delicious, satisfying and unexpected. The journey along the way took me back, in a powerful way, to the days of my own youth in the 50s and 60. "Loved it!" according to Kathy Rowland. Well written story. Careful detail gives a believable setting for the children's adventure. I'm really looking forward to the next volume of Norma Jean's sleuthing.

The Alberta grain farm where she lives with her five brothers and one sister is great for imaginative play, but Norma Jean wishes her life could be more like the books she reads—full of mystery and surprise. Through what they discover, Norma Jean and Howard are swept up in a mystery that takes them back into World War II history, and their family's fascinating involvement with the Danish Resistance. School is almost out for the summer, and twelve-year-old Norma Jean longs for adventure and excitement. As soon as they get home they race their bikes to Old Sven's place, an abandoned homestead, and investigate the mysterious suitcase. And then, while gazing out the school bus window, her younger brother and faithful friend, Howard, sees a suitcase in the ditch. What they learn will shock and change this emigrant family's life forever.
