Not on par with the other books David Lindsay I'll go ahead and disagree with the previous reviewers; it will probably bring some flames my way. I'm a big fan of Mouse Guard- I own both previous volumes, as well as the role playing game (all of which are excellent). The anthology is a neat idea but it left me quite unsatisfied. Not only are most of the stories short, but many of them do not have decent plot arcs. They don't resolve well, and being an anthology, ther. "Illustration tilts the balance over storytelling." according to J.Taylor. David Petersen's series of Mouse Guard graphic novels are cover to cover wonders of illustration, but often his story telling lacks the weight to balance his truest gift as a cartoonist. But Mouse Guard: Legends of the Guard is helped along a bit by his collaboration with other cartoonists who manage to tell some fun tales. I've found few children whose interest these books have held, but adults seem to be taken for long.
