From School Library Journal Kindergarten-Grade 3-When residents of Littleton receive word that the Queen might stop by, they engage in a flurry of activity to beautify the town. "Wonderfully written" according to a reader. My daughter loved the "Quiltmaker's Journey" after hearing it in her 1st grade class, so I purchased "Miss Hunnicutt's Hat" as a Christmas gift. Recently, another girl made fun of some hairclips she was wearing in her hair which hurt her feelings. Miss Hunnicutt's Hat was perfectly-timed, a story about a woman who won't give in when. Hats Off to Miss Hunnicutt's Hat When I learned that Jeff Brumbeau (author) and Gail deMarken (illustrator) of The Quiltmaker's Gift had collaborated once again on a children's book, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. I knew it would be a story with a wonderful moral and that the illustrations would be beautiful. I was not disappointed in the least.Miss Hunnicu. Eileen said Fabulous. Wonderful illustrations accompany this lovely tale of a woman not afraid to stand up for her very different ideas. The illustrations alone are worth the book price. The empowering story makes it a fabulous addition to any child's library.
