Too much bullfighting history and not enough history about the early development and growth.. A Painful Read! Intelligent Reader I've read Michener before--I loved "Hawaii," for instance, and really got a sense of place for Hawaii after reading that. But this doesn't do Mexico justice. It's mostly about bullfighting. And that would be okay, I guess, if it were an ENGAGING story about bullfighting, but it's not! Getting through it is an exercise in drudgery. Finally I gave up on the bulls and turned to the parts about ancie. doubler said Good history lesson if most facts are true. Very interesting. Good history lesson if most facts are true, plus I enjoyed the chapters regarding bull fighting.
