DESCRIPTION:
From the Back CoverIronworker Wayne Colson has come to the real estate office where his wife, Carmen, works at the worst possible time: while Ojibway Indian hit man Armand Degas and loose cannon Richie Nix are there to shake down Carmen’s boss. The best the feds can offer is the Witness Security Program. Unable to help himself, Wayne steps into harm’s way and sends the two malefactors out the door bleeding. So it’s coming down to just Wayne and Carmen—and ultimately to Carmen herself—to deal with two rough-trade misfits with murder on their minds.. Now the shooter-for-hire and his ex-con partner are after the Colsons and there’s little the state police and local law enforcement can do about it
He died in 2013.. Many of his books have been made into movies, including Get Shorty and Out of Sight. Leonard received the Lifetime
Sub Par This is the first Elmore Leonard novel I have read that fell flat. Compared to his other books, the story was a bit bland. Also, in his other books, the bad guys are compelling and tend to be somewhat humorous. But in Killshot, they are just amoral, and not written with any humor at all. Maybe Leonard was going for more realism, but It didn't work for me. I have not read them all, but recommend Swag or Road Dogs instead.. Five Stars Great character development.. "Classic Elmore Leonard" according to Mark Rubinstein. What can one say when the master slams out another winner? "Killshot" is a taut, compelling tale involving a married couple who inadvertently witness a crime, and must then enter the federal Witness Protection Program. The criminals pursue them relentlessly, and the novel is written in the typical style of Mr. Leonard--great dialogue, scenic realism, and characters who live and breathe on the page. A wonderful crime novel from the king of crime novelists.Mark Rubinstein,Author of "Mad Dog House" and "Love Gone Mad"
Killshot is prime Leonard—a riveting story of a husband and wife caught in the crossfire when they foil a criminal act and are forced to defend themselves when the legal system fails them from the murderous wrath of a pair of vengeful killers. When it comes to cops and criminals stories, Killshot and Leonard are as good as it gets—further proof why “the King Daddy of crime writers” (Seattle Times) deserves his current place among John D.
