I love character driven stories and the character development of Maelgyn and his accidental wife is realistic, fun, and unique. The other characters are more than 2 dimensional and the author's uniq. It had an interesting take on the races that populate the average fantasy novel and while most authors use medieval Europe as the cultural base this one mixed in some Japanese aspects. The characters are engaging and likeable enough but the plot bogg. Very solid beginning of a new series B.
