"Great characters, unique story" according to GJ. This is one of the rare character driven stories that also does a great job of world building with well developed plot lines. I love character driven stories and the character development of Maelgyn and his accidental wife is realistic, fun, and unique. The other characters are more than 2 dimensional and the author's uniq. A good read Read a sample first, like it enough to get book and was not disappointed. It had an interesting take on the races that populate the average fantasy novel and while most authors use medieval Europe as the cultural base this one mixed in some Japanese aspects. The characters are engaging and likeable enough but the plot bogg. Very solid beginning of a new series B. Jackson The basic plot is nothing new (Evil empire invades and the prince must save the day) but the world and characters are very interesting and well thought out.The only reason I wouldn't rate this a five star book is the author's unnecessary usage of Japanese culture.The author uses Japanese terminology throughout the book whi
