"Excellent textbook!" according to Greg Thomas. I have read numerous times that heat and mass transfer is a breaking point for many mechanical engineering students. This textbook is really helpful in getting through the course. The most important thing you can do is actually read the chapters in full. The problems rarely ever go outside the scope of what was covered directly in the chapter. The chapters are broken up nicely into the basic fundamentals first, and then different common applications are reviewed. The emphasis is always on applications and physical intuition, which make this book really g. D. C. said Happy with the purchase. This book seems thorough and well written. Hoping it continues to be that way as I get through it. The class is relying heavily on it.Update: This book had good examples and made it possible for me to ignore my teacher and still get a good grade. That in itself says something. If you aren't buying for a class and just for a read, I would still recommend it.. "Good Textbook" according to Secruss. Surprisingly good for a textbook. Lots of examples, tables, and fairly good explanation. The book definitely helped with the class.
Using a reader-friendly approach and a conversational writing style, the book is self-instructive and entertains while it teaches. With complete coverage of the basic principles of heat transfer and a broad range of applications in a flexible format, Heat and Mass Transfer: Fundamentals and Applications by Yunus Cengel and Afshin Ghajar provides the perfect blend of fundamentals and applications. It shows that highly technical matter can be communicated effectively in a simple yet precise language.. This approach is designed to take advantage of students' intuition, making the learning process easier and more engaging. The text provides a highly intuitive and practical understanding of the material by emphasizing the physics and the underlying physical phenomena involved. This text covers the standard topics of heat transfer with an emphasis on physics and real-world every day applications, while de-emphasizing the intimidating heavy mathematical aspects. Key: 50% of the Homework Problems including design, computer, essay, lab-type, and FE problems are new or revised to this edition
