Profane, profound, profusely entertaining. P. Wung "This book isn't for everyone. I thought it wasn't for me when I first started reading it.Eddie Huang is the owner of Baohaus, a NYC eatery that is one of the hottest places in town. This is his autobiography, the story of his evolution from a confused kids who was fresh off the boat to an entrepreneur and a food celebrity. I really like thisi book because his life experience runs parallel to mine in many ways. There are difference though, and even though Eddie speaks from a place that is near and dear to my heart, I am from an era that is far removed from E. Petrolfox said Not the TV show, just as good in a completely different way.. Don't expect the same thing as the TV show. Eddie is very real and talks like it. Expect a lot of swearing and thug life moments. I love the TV show but other than the names and them being Chinese that's about where the similarities stop. The memoir is fantastic though and it's really inspiring to listen to the story of a guy who by all rights could of ended up a criminal thug become a great American entrepreneur and innovator.. New favoriteHe is so funny, but super smart and brings really open minded, expanded perspectives on everything. Sunny begaye I love this book and gave it to my sister for her birthdayso now when she comes in my room holding it, we bust out laughing and reminisce on our favorite parts. He's cutting up so hard, but with heartfelt raw honesty. His stories about bullying and racism from other kids and everyone were really painful to read, but maybe because I could relateA lot of people will relate and love this. He's a joyful spirit, and a good story teller with a lot of cool perspectives on race, class, culture, pop culture, education, family dynamicseverything.
