"Another Book on Foucault" according to Michael Moore. It's not just another book on Foucault. He uses Foucault as a lens to view education policy. I've been reading Ball's work for a while and have always liked his way of viewing educational policy within an educational, political, economical and social context. His work writing about policy in Great Britain has provided a window for me to view educational policy in the US developed very similarly to Great Britain. Thank you, Prof. S Ball!. fantastic Hatchclan Well written and detailed enough for both browser and academic to enjoy. Bravo Mr Ball. Unpacking Foucault's latter works helps explain his thinking and the rising ethical issues he sought to address. should be mandatory reading for school leaders and students
Summing Up: Reccommended."-J.A. "Ball's use of Foucault as applied to specific instances of educational policy is a powerful model for scholars and students as it provides an approach through which to analyze and understand past and present educational policy. Helfer, Knox College, for CHOICE, November 2013"what Ball has constructed here is valuable, partly because he brings his subject into relief personally, intellectually and methodologically; but also and more importantly because he goes beyond just analysing and applying Foucault and attempts to ‘do’ Foucault. It is his use of genealogy and the distinct autobiographical slant which appears and reappears throughout that set this book apart, and make it needed." Ben Knight, International Journal of Lifelong Education
Stephen Ball is Karl Mannheim Professor of Sociology of Education, Institute of Education, University of London.
