"The author might become a great writer one day, but this book won't be something to be proud of" according to Amazon Customer. The book starts ok with an interesting premise, but drags on around that premise without much development. The basic idea of the book (A world with safety regulation so absurd that make people lose touch with real life) is interesting enough, but then it drowns in too many internal jokes about current pop culture. The reader is asked to believe that pop culture did not develop at all about 150 years after the end of the 20th century since all the cultural references of the characters in the book refer to that pe. I found this novel through a recommendation and was pleasantly surprised by its hilarious, undoubtedly original concept and tight, witty writing style.In a UK where districts live beneath domed communities obsessed with safety and burrecratic regulations, a simple puddle is transformed into what amounts to a superfund site here in the US.
