"All-new adventures in domestic ridiculousness."—The New York Times"Second City alum Molly Erdman's uber-popular blog, Catalog Living, has drawn followers for its wickedly funny take on the lifestyles proposed by shelter magazines and retail catalogs depicting rooms Erdman finds ridiculous Erdman's dig at the overwrought images shelter magazine and catalogs create, shoot and stick in our mailboxes may be the most honest take on the business yet—and hysterical."—The Oregonian (Portland, Oregon)"A mix of Catalog Living posts—photo-with-caption format—and humorously written, yet sound, decorating advice."—Curbed
She lives in Los Angeles. MOLLY ERDMAN is a writer, actor, and comedian who honed her skills as a member of Chicago's famed Second City comedy troupe.
Pushed too far by a photo depicting a plate of figs placed under a table, actor and Second City-alum Molly Erdman created Gary and Elaine, a well-heeled and deeply superficial couple living happily amongst abundantly pillowed chairs, giant abacuses, and decorative fruit. Isn’t it time you dropped by? Have you ever flipped through the pages of a Pottery Barn catalog and thought, “Who actually lives that way?” Rest assured, you are not alone. Praise for catalogliving:“‘Catalog Living’” taps into thoughts many have had … about how things are sold to us.”—Chicago Tribune
Not near as good as the website Stephen I love the Catalog Living website. The photos are absurd, and the comments make you laugh out loud. I was so excited about this book and bought it as a gift for someone else I know who loves the blog. However, I'm glad looked at the book before giving it as a gift. It is not remotely as funny, mainly because the images aren't that funny. On the actual Cat. Great book for housewarming gift! Adi Benner Love Molly's wit as it oozes from the pages of her cleverly written catalog satire. BTW, the catalog photography is great and really inspiring for Martha-ish home decor!. "Funny!" according to StephKaye. The book lives up to the site: funny, quirky, creative. My only complaint is that it's not quite large enough to really constitute a "coffee table book." Gary and Elaine might banish it to a closed armoire for that reason, but I'm proud to leave it out on a proportionately smaller side table.
