DESCRIPTION:
"Good book but be careful of judging others" according to Capt T. Another good book by Baldwin. This one was a bit judgemental but then again we all judge on our life's experience. Mr. Baldwin's life's experience was much different than most of us as we had to work for a living and contribute to Mr. Baldwin's eventual retirement via Social Security. When Mr. Baldwin eventually retires the $$$'s he draws out of our government system will not be the $$$ he contributed. He spent a lifetime doing something all of us would have loved to do bu. In this book James Baldwin has OUT DONE HIMSELF EVEN OVER HIS LAST EXCELLENT BOOK. DLBland This is a super great book! This is a real life account by a real living adventurer! The writing is so honest and straightforward we here all feel like the author knows our very souls content. The people he actually knew along the years of this voyage are remarkable! But , as he is an "every-man" in this saga of crossing the sea and knowing many peoples of vastly different cultures! Any of us could foreseeably experience such , IF we had the volintude to undertake such a j. Tony Anschutz said Another great book.. Outstanding! So hard to put down.As a solo sailor I can relate to every aspect of Atoms journey. This unvarnished physical and philosophical saga includes encounters with dead-eyed bureaucrats, native angels of mercy, newly discovered WWII wreckage, fellow expat adventurers, rogues and misfits. Bound for Distant Seas begins sailing author James Baldwin’s epic tale of his second circumnavigation. Along the way he is tested by sea and society, and he ultimately discovers the priceless treasures of heart and mind that he seeks. In this paean to the sea and foreign lands, the author recounts the best and worst of life on the ocean, visits to far-flung islands, and adventures amid throngs of humanity in some of the world’s most densely populated cities. He does not return home again for 15 years. James invites you to come aboard Atom for the journey of a lifetime.. Alone with little money aboard Atom, his now engineless 28-foot sailboat, James embarks on his odyssey without the comforts and equipment most sailors consider essential. His story is seasoned by his adventures during his first circumnavigation in 1984-86 as told in Across Islands and Oceans. Challenging himsel
