DESCRIPTION:
It also details the language-processing functions involved, including part-of-speech tagging using rules and stochastic techniques. A key feature of the book is the author's hands-on approach throughout, with extensive exercises, sample code in Prolog and Perl, and a detailed introduction to Prolog. This book teaches the principles of natural language processing and covers linguistics issues. The book is suitable for researchers and students of natural language processing and computational linguistics.
33 (4), 2007). In fact, there is an elaborate internet site … dedicated to this book … ." (Rainer Horsch, Zentrablatt MATH, Vol. From the reviews: "This book presents a concise introduction to natural language processing both theoretical and practical in nature with emphasis on English, French and German language structure. 1096 (22), 2006)"This comprehensive NLP textbook is strongly algorithm-oriented and designed for talented computer programmers who might or might not be linguists. Covington, Computational Lingustics
Great algorithm-based book on the subject This book has the same scope as Speech and Language Processing (2nd Edition) (Prentice Hall Series in Artificial Intelligence), but that book flies too high over the details. This book does a good job of covering the details without getting lost in them. The author takes the approach of explaining a concept first with excellent illustrations, then explains the algorithm t. "This book is going to be a classic !!" according to Apple Macs are wonderful!. This is a wonderful, code rich, book on language processing for computational linguists and language engineers. It is both theory and example rich with considerable detail throughout. The book is clearly written and very well structured!!Highly recommended!. Just What I Was Looking For cosmo Subject matter, depth and breadth are just right. I work in both Perl and Prolog. Author's command of English is not perfect, but tolerable.
