Will said Great Mandolin method. I have many books on mandolin and this is the best I have seen. There are a good variety of songs. Anyone should be able to play these songs with a little practice. The CD has the complete arrangement for every song in the book .you can play melody or rhythm, play along with the cd as if you were playing with a live band.. "Lovely Arrangements" according to Just Looking. The first mandolin book where I thought the arrangements were lovely, not gimmicky. It is very complete for beginners. Teaches both open and chop chords. They say to rest your wrist on the bridge, but I wouldn't stricly adhere to that as it's restrictive if you want a loping, swinging sound. Otherwise, what I wish I had years ago. The CD is beautifical and would stand up without the book.. Charlie Read said Affordable and useful. The TABS would have been easier to follow without the added vocal tracks on the included CD. For the benefit of learning and practicing the material, the vocals are a bit distracting. However, some people who want to learn the lyrics and melodies may not be bothered by their addition. Overall, it's one of the best and most affordable methods I have found so far.
